Functions of Upazila Parishad

1. To make five-year and various term development plans.

2. Implementation of programs of various government departments handed over to the council and functions of those departments.

       Supervise and coordinate.

3. Construction, repair and maintenance of inter-union connecting roads.

4. Upazilas as per government guidelines to ensure optimal use of surface water resources

      Council adoption and implementation of small irrigation projects.

5. Ensuring public health, nutrition and family planning services.

. Improving sanitation and drainage system and adopting potable drinking water supply system.

. (A) Provide incentives and support for the expansion of education at the upazila level.

       (B) Activities of concerned institutions for the purpose of improving the quality of secondary education and madrasa education activities

       Supervise and assist them.

 . Undertake activities for the establishment and development of cottage and small scale industries.

 9. Provide support to the work of co-operative societies and non-governmental voluntary organizations and coordinate their work

        Accomplishment.

10. To provide and implement support for women, children, social welfare and youth, sports and cultural activities.

11. Undertake and implement activities for the development of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forest resources.

12. The activities of the police department including the improvement of law and order situation in the upazila are discussed and regularized

        Sending report to higher authorities.

13. Adopting, implementing and so on self-employment programs for self-employment and poverty alleviation.

       The government should provide necessary assistance for the implementation of government programs.

14. Coordinate and inspect the development activities of the Union Parishad and provide necessary assistance.

15. Violence against women and children is another form of prevention, including creating public opinion against organized crime

       Taking action.

16. Public opinion against the organization of crimes like terrorism, theft, robbery, smuggling, drug use etc.

       Taking other preventive measures including creation.

16. Undertake other activities including social forestry for environmental conservation and development.

16. Other functions assigned by the Government from time to time.

All matters relating to Upazila Parishad funds.
Concerning the granting of power to spend out of council funds.
Proposal to impose taxes, rates, tolls and fees.
Annual budget of Upazila Parishad, annual accounts and revised budget.
Audit of expenditure of Upazila Parishad.
To make five-year and various term development plans.
To implement the programs of various government departments handed over to the council and to supervise and coordinate the work of those departments.
Processing of various agreements for implementation of work by the council.
Formation of various committees and sub-committees.
Review of law and order situation in the upazila.
Review of relief and rehabilitation work in the upazila.
Approval of work plan and estimate to be implemented by Upazila Parishad.
Review, monitor and evaluate the progress of all types of development work implemented.
Review the implementation of all decisions taken by the council.
Other matters of public interest.
Citizen Services: Upazila Parishad is basically the office of Upazila Nirbahi Officer and other offices such as Upazila Education Office, Upazila Agriculture Office, Local Government Engineering Department, Upazila Social Services Department, Upazila Cooperative Department, Upazila Youth Development Office, Upazila Rural Development Office, Upazila Project Implementation Office, Upazila Fisheries. Offices, Upazila Department of Women's Affairs etc. provide almost all kinds of civic services through offices.
