The distance from Dhaka to Baliadangi by road is about 450 km. Baliadangi can be reached by road from Syedpur by air and by road from Syedpur or Dinajpur by rail. The Asian Highway directly from Dhaka to Baliadangi is very wide. Although most of the main roads in Baliadangi Upazila are paved, unpaved roads are observed everywhere. Due to its sandy soil, it is suitable for unpaved roads even during the monsoon season. This 200 year old traditional Suryapuri mango tree can be visited through Baliadangi through Dangi Bazar / Lahiri Bazar / through crossroads by van, bus, Mishuk.

Asia's largest traditional ancient vine Surjapuri mango tree

Scientific name: Mangifera indica (Mangifera indica)

Age of the tree: approximately 220 (two hundred and twenty years).

Currently the fourth generation owns the plant.


Characteristics of the tree: Suryapuri variety creeping giant shaped mango tree spreads over an area of about two bighas. It looks like a green hill from a distance. The height of the mango tree is 70 feet, and the breadth is 19.8 feet Ges the circumference is 515 feet. A total of 19 thick branches emerge from the main stem of the tree and cling to the ground like an octopus, giving the tree a distinctive feature. Each branch branched away from the main stem and sank to the ground to give rise to new roots, each resembling an individual tree. Protruding like an octopus, the roots sprouting from each branch lying on the ground indicate that the tree will live for hundreds of years more.


Characteristics of Mangoes: The mangoes are small, medium in size. Each mango weighs around 140-160 grams. Although the mango has a mild taste, it is very tasty to eat, juicy, fragrant Ges thin skin and small pulp. All these characteristics have given the mango a special flavor. The nutritional content of this mango is 56 percent and the sweetness is 17 percent. Usually the mangoes start ripening from the end of June and are available till the end of July. Thakurgaon district has also been branded around this Suryapuri mango due to its popularity.


Yield: About 100-120 maunds of mangoes are harvested each year. There was no significant variation in yield even though the tree was older.

At first glance, many people mistakenly see a huge shape like a banyan tree. Although huge in shape like a bot tree, the tree is not actually a bot tree, it is a mango tree. In the village of Mandumala on the border of Harinmari in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon, the mango tree has become a thing of the past. Not only to the people of Thakurgaon, this mango tree has now become a wonder in the whole country. If you want to separate the stalks from the roots of the tree, you have to think carefully. The exceptional feature of the mango tree attracts not only tourists from the country, but also many guests from abroad. They can't resist the urge to run for a while in the midst of hundreds of activities. This exceptional mango tree has made the backward Baliadangi Upazila known to the world today.

 

Suryapuri is a favorite mango variety of the people of Thakurgaon. Delicious, fragrant, juicy and small ati is one of the characteristics of the variety. That Suryapuri variety, the Bombay national creeper, is a huge mango tree that covers more than two bighas. Height approximately 80-90 feet. And the circumference is not less than 35 feet. On the 3rd side of the main tree, 19 thick stalks are fenced and gripped the ground like an octopus. The stalks of the tree bend under the weight of age, but at the top of the tree is a green ceremony, the green ame taitambur. Mangoes weigh 200 to 250 grams.

 

The history of this mango tree is very old to the locals. Many people try to guess the age of the tree by looking at the thick stalks clinging to the soil. Some say 150 years, some say 250 years. However, the biochemists of the area cannot say exactly how old the tree is. They said it was not known when the mango tree was planted. They learned about this ancient tree from their ancestors. They also said that a few trees were planted next to this mango sapling. After 15 years, the stalks are bowing to the ground in the same way. The age of the original tree can be easily estimated by looking at the shape of the mango tree planted 15 years ago, the age of the tree is not less than 200 years.
